Where Do Buyers Come From?

Lots of people assume that buyers are attracted to any home they see in a magazine or a sign they drive by on the way to work or when simply "wandering" a neighborhood they especially like. If only it were that simple!

According to numerous surveys conducted annually, here is where buyers really DO come from:

Nearly 2/3 of buyers find a home through their real estate agent or the agency with which that agent is affiliated. This is especially true if they are from out-of-town or do their initial searching on the internet.

About 40% of home buyers will call a realtor about a home when they saw a Real Estate "For Sale" sign at the property.

More than 75% of buyers initially use the internet to look for homes; this is especially true if they are looking for a home or land in an area distant from where they live.

Fewer than 10% of buyers were told of the home by a friend or neighbor, by a builder, or knew the seller.

Can you see how most buyers use a real estate professional to help them find a home? In fact, nearly 90% of all buyers rely on the assistance of a professional realtor.  Each year, the facts are clear: sellers get more money, sell their home more quickly, and endure far fewer hassles when they work with a real estate professional as their partner in the selling process.
